The Golden Lamb Inn
Lebanon, OH
May 3, 2008

Known as Ohio's oldest running inn and restaurant, the Golden Lamb was established in 1803. Over the century it has undergone some renovations and additions allowing the public to dine and sleep within the history it still presents to us today. Twelve United States presidents have visited the hotel, as well as the infamous writer Charles Dickens.

Entering the facility into the main lobby decroated with antiques from the 1800's feels as if you are traveling back a couple hundred years into a rich history. The food is splendid as is the customer service you will receive from the staff. Ghost stories about previous owners and patrons have developed over the years, and the ghost who recieves the most attneion is that of a little girl.

Some believe her to be the ghost of Sarah, the niece of Isaac Stubbs who owned the hotel in the 1800's. The problem is, Sarah passed away when she was an adult, but could it be her ghost reverting back to childhood and a time when life was more simple and fun? A photo of "Sarah's room" which holds a couple of items that actually belonged to her as a child when she lived in the hotel:

People believe the ghost of Sarah manifests as a child because the little girl's ghost was not seen until Sarah's belongings were moved from the Harriet Beecher Stowe room to what now holds the museum's display of the 1800's bedroom. Others feel the ghost of the little girl is Eliza Clay, the daughter of Henry Clay, w ho passed away as a c hild in 1825 due to an illness with a high fever. Another ghostly report includes that of Charles R. Sherman who became an Ohio Supreme Court Judge in 1823. Judge Sherman died at the hotel in 1829.

We arrived early in the afternoon and ate lunch in the tavern. While enjoying our food I had a view of the restaurant and noticed residual energy that took the form of women dancing in long, Victorian dresses. I’m assuming that during the time period when the new additions were built, the restaurant area held balls and parties. The room we stayed in was the Harriet Beecher Stowe room on the fourth floor, directly across from Sarah’s room. After reading information posted on Sarah's room, we learned that the Harriet Beecher Stowe room was originally Sarah’s room, and when they moved her belongings to the room that currently houses the items, the ghost of the little girl became active.
On the second floor, which consists mostly of dining rooms and a couple of private guest rooms, we sensed the spirit of an older man. After taking some photos while following our senses, we captured what we believe to be a paranormal anomaly as seen below.

Following the energy of a man that manifested into an orb (see above), I stepped into the hallway and took this photo:

And further down the hallway to the main staircase we encountered a second form of paranormal energy:

Following the man and a second energy up the stairs to the third floor:

While I followed the two entities upstairs, Hans followed a very strong, active energy in one of the main dining rooms on the second floor. He captured an impressive photo of an orb in motion (top right) as well as an orb in front of the table. Please note we did conduct experiments to debunk this photo and were unable to create the same "form of light".

We spent some time on the fourth floor since we heard and sensed “someone” walking up and down the hallway. Just across from our room, next to Sarah’s room was a bench. We sat on that bench in silence, during the late hours of the night experiencing the feeling of being touched, clearly hearing footsteps walking the length of the hallway and using our dowsing rods to communicate.
